Warm and indulgent, these toasties are the ultimate cold-weather comfort food.

Maybe it’s the memories of cheesy toast as a child, or the simple enjoyment of eating with your hands, one thing is for sure — you can’t beat a good toastie.

These festive themed grilled sarnies are the perfect treats for suppertime on Christmas day.

Pigs in blankets and brie toastie served with cranberry sauce

SERVES 2

Ingredients

4 slices of medium sliced bread

2 tsp mayonnaise

4 cooked pigs in blankets

6 slices of brie (stilton also works well)

4 tsp red onion chutney

Cranberry sauce

  1. Spread the mayonnaise onto one side of each of your slices of bread.
  2. Turn on the Breville Ultimate Deep Fill Sandwich Toaster.
  3. Slice the pigs in blankets length ways so you have four halves.
  4. Place the pigs in blankets on one slice of bread and top with the slices of brie. Make sure the mayonnaise is on the outer side of the bread.
  5. Spread the red onion chutney onto the other slice of bread and sandwich the two slices together.
  6. Place the toasties into the Breville Ultimate Deep Fill Sandwich Toaster.
  7. Once your machine has got to the correct temperature the amber indicator will alight. Place your toasties onto the plates and close the lid. Toast for seven minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Remove the toasties and leave to cool for one minute before serving. Serve with a dollop of cranberry sauce to dip into.

Sweet Banoffee toastie

SERVES 2

Ingredients

4 slices of sweet brioche bread or 2 croissants cut lengthways in half

1 banana sliced into disks

2 tbsp caramel or toffee sauce

2 tbsp dark chocolate chips or chopped chocolate

2 digestive biscuit or cookie (if you use a chocolate chip biscuit or cookie-leave out the 1 tbsp of dark chocolate chips)

Whipped cream to serve

  1. Turn on your machine to warm.
  2. Spread caramel sauce onto one side of the brioche or croissant for both toasties.
  3. Top with banana slices and chocolate chips.
  4. Crumble over the biscuit and top with the second slice of brioche or croissant.
  5. Place your toastie on the sandwich plate and close the lid. Toast for three to four minutes or until golden brown.
  6. Remove the toasties and leave to cool for one minute before serving. Serve with whipped cream.

Vegan maple spice roast vegetables and vegan cheese toastie, served with cranberry

SERVES TWO

Ingredients

Tray of prepared vegetables

5 Brussel sprouts, quartered

A drizzle of olive oil

1 tbsp maple syrup

1 pinch of cumin seeds

1 sprig of fresh thyme

Salt and pepper

A drizzle olive oil

4 slices vegan cheese

2 tbsp cranberry sauce

4 slices granary bread

Vegan spread

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees fan / gas four.
  2. Spread the prepared vegetables over a baking tray and drizzle over the olive oil and maple syrup. Add a sprinkle of cumin seeds, salt and pepper, and a sprig of thyme.
  3. Roast in the oven for 30-35 minutes, turning vegetables halfway through cooking.
  4. Turn on the Breville Ultimate Deep Fill Sandwich Toaster.
  5. Spread the cranberry sauce onto one side of the granary bread for both toasties.
  6. Top with the maple roasted vegetables and vegan cheese.
  7. Spread the vegan spread on one side of the other pieces of granary bread for both toasties and sandwich the two slices together ensuring the buttered side is on the outside of the sandwich.
  8. Once at the correct temperature the amber indicator will alight. Place your toastie on the sandwich plate and close the lid. Toast for up to eight minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Remove the toasties and leave to cool for one minute before serving. Serve with extra cranberry sauce and vegan gravy.
