Suzi tells us how she stays passionate and motivated every day.

What do you think is the key to success?

I really think the key to success is to follow your passion. I know it’s easy to say when you’re not struggling to pay rent or a mortgage, but I have never been happy just following the money.

At 64, I found a new passion: blogging and social media. I started it as a hobby with no intention to make money out of it — I just love photography, writing and making videos!

What do you love about this stage of your life?

The older I get, the less I care what people think of me.

At 50, I refused to become invisible so moved to Brighton, dyed my hair bright red and started wearing more colourful, vintage and preloved clothes that I would never have got away with working in TV.

I had the confidence to do it then, and still do, but probably wouldn’t have in my 40s.

I’m also more confident about my body now as, quite frankly, there’s nothing I can do about it! I’m just grateful it’s keeping me going and I look after it as well as a man would look after a vintage car: plenty of TLC and good fuel!

What motivates you?

Sometimes I am a bit too honest but I don’t want to waste time acting a certain way.

I don’t like the labels hurled at woman over a certain age so have become a bit of a positive ageing anarchist, publicly naming and shaming phrases like ‘elderly’, ‘Insta-Gran’ and ‘anti-ageing’… we’re anti-war, anti-poverty, anti-cruelty and anti-bullying, not anti-ageing! It’s a privilege to age — especially now.
