Sarah Jessica Parker has spoken out about the negativity surrounding how she and her co-stars look.

Sarah Jessica Parker appears on the cover of Vogue’s December issue and has given one of her most searingly honest interviews ever.

In the article she speaks about the response to the first images that leaked from the set of the Sex and The City sequel, And Just Like That. In the images we see that Miranda has ditched her famously red hair in favour of her lovely natural grey. SJP’s blonde hair also has beautiful silver strands. Seeing the images the trolls had a field day and mercilessly mocked the actresses appearances.

The original Sex and The City ended in 2004, 17 years ago. The characters, who were then in their late 30s and early 40s, are now mid-50s.

Sarah Jessica Parker addressed the furore saying, “’Grey hair grey hair grey hair. Does she have grey hair?’ I’m sitting with Andy Cohen, and he has a full head of grey hair, and he’s exquisite. Why is it okay for him?”

She continued by pointing out, “There’s so much misogynist chatter in response to us that would never. Happen. About. A. Man.”

In SATC, Carrie was famous for her unique style, and if stills from the new show are anything to go by, we can expect plenty of amazing looks. And that’s something that many have applauded – women 50+ can wear what we like, look how we like – the outdated ‘rules’ no longer apply.

SJP for one is very clear about how she has not only accepted, but embraced ageing saying, “I know what I look like. I have no choice. What am I going to do about it? Stop ageing? Disappear?”

She clearly refuses to be cowed and will not give in to criticism or outdated notions, and for that we applaud her.
