We all want to live healthy lives, but there are so many new food trends that it can be difficult to know which parts of your diet are actually worth changing. After years of research, Dr Greger has created a list of foods that should be eaten every day, known as, the Daily Dozen.

1. Beans

130g cooked beans, 60g hummus


2. Fruit

1 medium fruit and 40g dried fruit


3. Greens

60g raw and 90g cooked


4. Flaxseed

1 tablespoon


5. Grains

100g hot cereal and 1 slice of bread


6. Berries

60g fresh or frozen and 40g dried


7. Cruciferous

Daily Dozen: fruits and vegetables are an obvious way to give your body the fuel it needs

30-80g chopped and 1 tablespoon horseradish


8. Vegetables

50g non-leafy vegetables


9. Nuts

Daily Dozen: nuts aren't only good sources of fibre, they also keep your teeth healthy

30g nuts and 1 tablespoon nut butter


10. Spices

¼ teaspoon of turmeric


11. Beverages

Daily Dozen: thinking about the liquids you put in your body will help your body live stronger

1,750ml of water, green tea and hibiscus tea

12. Exercise

90 minutes moderate or 40 minutes vigorous
